Some time back Paul bought a partially started, ¼-scale, Fiberglass fuselage Consolidated Models P-39 kit. But he got to thinking about doing the whole mid-engine thing and how challenging that would be. Here is the story. (Construction is still underway as of January 2023)

Telemaster X

Paul and Jim built (& upgraded) a Telemaster ARF to use as a test-bed for the counter-rotation gear-box Jim built to power an XP-72 Super Thunderbolt. Everything except the gearbox has since been "retired".

Top Flite P-47D

A while back, Paul's original Thunderbolt came home in a bucket. He finally found a
Top Flite P-47D replacement with a three-inch larger wing span.

The finished Top Flite P-47 is powered by an AXI 5345-16 motor on a 12-S battery (about 3.75 hp). It is glassed, has Sierra Landing gear, and an E-flight 405 servo-less bomb release. The empty weight is 24.70 lbs; ready to fly is 28.18 lbs.
