July Play-by-Play
by Duane Barrett, Contest Coordinator
Overview
Competition Saturday in July was overcast with possible rain forecast, and light wind in the early
morning. I arrived at the field about 8:30am to find just a slight wind, but well overcast
with even a slight misting now and then. We decided to wait it out and see who showed and
what the weather was going to do.
Weather
The weather was overcast, dreary and just a light breeze. Not enough wind to worry about, so we would
be taking off to the nouth with immediate racing.
T-28 Class
We had a total of four racers turn out. Thanks Jim for joining us. New racer Jim Brown decided to race today. the other new racer, George B. didn't show.
Heat 1:
Good start to the north, everybody heading for that first turn. About the fourth lap Duane cut a pylon and KC passed him into second place. Terry was first, KC second, Duane third and Jim B. fourth.
Heat 2:
Again take off was to the north and immediately racing. Nothing really out of the ordinary except on the fourth lap for some reason Duane rounded the north pylon really low and just landed hard in the grass. Couldn't take off again, so DNF this heat. Again Terry was first, then KC, followed by Jim in third.
Heat 3:
Terry finished first, then KC, Duane third, and Jim finished fourth.
T-28 Wrap Up: The weather held off for the most part with only a little mist now and then. All in all a good race day. Excellent BBQ Jim Wilie!
Reno Class
There were only two Reno racers at the field today.
Heat One: Tery first, Greg second.
Heat Two: Terry first, Greg second.
Heat Three: One mor time - Terry first, Greg second.
Reno Wrap Up: Three very fast heats with no carnage. Thanks guys for the Reno racing fun.
